Jasper, Canada

This road called the Icefield Parkway, is so beautiful that you must visit. Hanging glaciers, snowfields, and steep slopes of granite. The roads are busy and we see more black bear along the road.
Lee’s rear tire had bee wearing so fast you can see it change every day. We figure it wont last till he gets to Fairbanks where he has two new tires waiting. He gets with wife Kathy via text (which is free) and they find a tire in Prince Rupert. They are closed on Sunday but take his credit card and will drop off the tire at the Shell station. We will have to change the tire ourselves. That shouldn’t pose any problems tho.

We get into Jasper which is very busy. A cute ski town with what you expect now-a-days. We find that most hotel rooms are taken here and further west. Lee calls a B&B and the lady says she will hold her last room for us. We walk the 5 blocks over in our riding gear. The temps are near 80 on this solstice evening and we begin to boil in our heavy armored riding gear. When we find the house the lady comes out flabbergasted saying she thought a couple who just arrived were the ones she spoke to and our room is gone!! We peel clothes off and regroup outside her house. ****** to say the least. She hustles out to say that she was able to shift some of her guests and we have our room back. It’s just a small bedroom in her private house. I am so relieved to have a place to rest, its been a long day.

Dinner and a few beers, showers, and off to the Jasper Brewing Co. We make some quick friends in the Bartender Brad, and manager Isaac. We share stories and bucket lists with them along with some shots and beers. When we get up to leave Isaac gives us each a liter bottle of Sutter Hill Pil. We had a great time in this friendly bar. We may see one of our new friends when he comes out to Burning Man,
We walk back to the house about midnight to find the front door locked! At first I think Lee is kidding about it being locked. we knock on the door , then ring the doorbell. About 5 times till the hall light comes on. A man opens the door, asks us if we are the bikers. We say yes. then he tells us he is a guest too, and that he is sorry he locked the door on us. I wonder, What kind of person feels so threatened that they check and lock the doors of other peoples homes? How far different that Lee and I who trust everyone, by leaving our helmets, jackets and even out key on our bikes.
