Riding for Fun
Gaspé, Canada |
Gaspé, Canada
We start out by taking in the Pierced Rock ( hole in the rock) here in the town of Pierce. Today after a 60 mile run to the town of Gaspe, we find a B&B and book it for two nights. it has a steep gravel driveway and uneven parking area. It’s a challenge to get the bikes up the hill and slide backwards to park so we can get out. We unpack mos of our gear and mount up to ride one of the best motorcycle roads on the Gaspe. We fuel up and think we will eat on the way out of town. We misjudge the dining opportunities and find ourselves on a road with no serviced for 60 miles. We stop at a bridge that has a small monument to the 6 dead and the 4 survivors if the May 22 1963 Beaver Bridge failure. We eat one of our power bars and the rest of the smoked salmon. We continue to motor on a rough road with very little traffic. It follows the York river witch is marked for the fishing access points. The road is not as exciting as we had hoped for. It was mostly straight with few views due to the heave trees. There are a few trees starting to turn. We had planned on returning on this road as it was shorter than going along the coast. However we decided to take the coast road so we could get something to eat and get a view that will change when we come back. There are numerous small towns spotted whoever there is a flat spot on the coast. This is usually where a river carves the steep Chic-Chock mountains that run along this coast. The road here is really fun as it climbs up steep hills only to plunge down the other side to another scenic town. The roads are not only hilly but twisty. This is really what we were looking for on today’s fun ride. We stop for dinner then get back just before dark. The fun ride was 200 miles long.
